Soil Bag is a part in Scrap Mechanic.
Overview[ | ]
The Soil Bag is a large bag of soil used for Farming. A mound of soil is 3x3 blocks in size, while the bags themselves are 5x3 blocks in size.
Usage[ | ]
Placing a Soil Bag on a terrain surface will create a square mound of soil. This mound allows for Seeds to be planted.
Mounds of soil can be removed to pick the Soil Bag up again.
When placed on a non-terrain surface, it is placed as a bag. This can also be done on terrain surfaces by pressing and holding "F" (Force Place) when placing.
Obtaining[ | ]
Soil Bags are dropped by Damaged Crates and Golden Damaged Crates. They can also be found in Ruin Chests, Farmer Shacks, and Warehouses. Additionally, they can be traded for 1 Carrot Crate.
A few pre-placed soil mounds are found in the farming tutorial area near the Crashed Maintenance Ship, as well as in Farming Patches.

Trivia[ | ]
- Soil Bag is the only item in the game that is placed as a different object depending on the surface it is placed onto (unless being force-built).
- Soil Bags can be placed as a mound on any terrain surface, including roads, as long as it is not too steep.
- Soil Bags are one of the few non-consumable items that are placed as a stack.
