Spudgun is one of the Tools in Scrap Mechanic.

Overview

A gun that shoots potatoes. It is the only ranged weapon in the game. It right now has three variants. The classical spudgun, the shot spudgun and the gatling spudgun. Each has its own features. You can obtain one by trading it from a farmers hideout.

Usage

Left mouse shoots a potato. Holding right mouse aims down the makeshift sights, zooming in the player's view. This helps when shooting at distant targets.

The potatoes fired by the gun can destroy Cardboard Blocks and Glass Blocks/Glass Tile Blocks, are detected by Sensors, cause Explosive Canisters to explode, and can trigger Switches and Buttons.

Trivia

• The Spudgun is based on the potato cannon, which is also called a spud gun. "Spud gun" can also refer to a toy that fires small chunks of potato, though the Spudgun is more similar to the potato cannon, as it fires whole potatoes.
• The writing on the Spudgun's barrel reads "PVC VACUUM TUBE".
• When a player is hit by a potato shot by another player, they make a gasping noise and are knocked back.

Upcoming

In Survival Mode, the Spudgun will be the player's main way of battling smaller robots, such as the Tapebot. It will require potatoes as ammo, which is one of the crops that the player will be able to grow. A limited amount of potatoes will fit inside the gun: possibly five by default according to a render from Devblog 12. Spudguns will have a selection of modular parts available that can change the functionality of the weapon.
